Septic systems, according to their age and the material used during original installation, can deteriorate, and the plumbing going in the tank, inside the tank, and exiting the tank along with the drain field itself can prompt repairs.

Drain Field Repair/Replacement

During the initial installation, a septic drain field is placed in the ideal location on the property. Over years of constant use, the soil naturally filters the pathogens (germs) from the wastewater. Eventually, the soils become contaminated surrounding the drain field system reducing its performance substantially. Root intrusion can also cause a system to be repaired, and driving vehicles over the area can damage a septic system prompting repairs or replacement.

Tank Pumping

Tanks are the primary pretreatment of the septic system. Once a tank reaches a 50% volume of sludge (solids) the pretreatment process is at a critical point of not pretreating the wastewater. A lack of pumping threatens the performance of the drain field functionality, allowing solids to be forced into the drain field. Health departments highly recommend pumping your Atlanta septic tank every 3-5 years.

Tank Replacement

In the event of an obstruction of the tank (additions built to the dwelling, large trees growing near the tank, or the tank being undersized due to bedrooms being added to the home) can require a septic tank to be replaced on the property or increased in size to accommodate the amount of additional bedrooms.

ADDITIONAL CHARGES MAY INCLUDE

The standard depth of a septic tank is 18 inches. If your tank was installed deeper than 18 inches we need to charge an additional fee for the extra work that is involved in unearthing the tank. We also may have to charge additional fees to unearth the septic tank if it is under a deck or covered with concrete and or landscaping. There should not be anything covering a septic tank, however, in some situations, we come across these items and they take longer to remove.

Your septic tank should be pumped and inspected every three to five years. When tanks have not had this proper maintenance they will build up solids or sludge. The extra sludge in the tank creates wear on the pump by adding water to break up the solids in order to get them through the hose and out to the truck. There will be additional charges for this service. There will be additional charges for any other services that are not related to the actual pumping of the septic tank. These items include but are not limited to the servicing of the line from the house to the tank, repairs that may be needed to the tank, or repairs that may be needed to the field line system.
